Convention on Biological Diversity, 9th Meeting of the Conference of the Parties

The Convention on Biological Diversity is the most holistic convention in nature conservation. Its 9th COP meeting was held between 19 and 30, in Bonn, Germany. Unfortunately the results of the negotiations are not so ambitious and basically postpone concrete actions for the future. Read more>>

CEEweb Academy on Biomass

The CEEweb Academy on Biomass was held in Esztergom, Hungary on 9-10 May, 2008. From the acknowledged experts participants learned about the real social, economic and environmental implications of biofuels (or more correctly agrofuels). It seems that biofuels will not bring a solution to the problem of global warming and energy shortage. On the other hand-they will exacerbate these problems to the extreme. Read more>>
