Background information

CEEweb and Ecological Tourism in Europe with involvement of numerous stakeholders worked on the sustainable tourism protocol the Carpathian Convention and strategy for it’s implementation since 2006. In 2010, a protocol on sustainable tourism was adopted by the conference of the seven parties to the Carpathian Convention, which provided a legally binding framework for the development of sustainable tourism in the Carpathians.

To ensure the implementation of the protocol, a special project – “Development of a Sustainable Tourism Strategy for the Carpathians” (CarpatSusTourStrat) – was implemented to elaborate the strategy for the Carpathians in coordination with all relevant stakeholders. Read more about the project >>
