NGO representatives covering the whole pan-European region
got together to discuss the most effective ways and means
to formulate the outcomes of the Fifth Intergovernmental Conference
Biodiversity in Europe. Agenda

Pan-European stakeholders could get an overview
(ppt 293 KB) about the process of PEBLDS, its milestones,
achievements as well as its shortcomings. This was followed
by a presentation
(ppt 280 KB) focusing on how civic society can get involved
in the process.
Then participants listened to the presentation of the results
of the Pan-European biodiversity
assessment. Afterwards, professionals gave introductory
presentations about the three main themes of the Conference.
This programme was followed by the presentation of CEEweb
background documents prepared previously for each theme. The
presentations were the following:

Altogether 35 enthusiastic participants from 26 countries
formulated NGO messages for each of the Themes covered during
the Conference.

The Conference also contained a "Project Marketplace"
section. This gave participants an opportunity to raise possible
project proposals for implementing CBD and to establish fruitful
partnerships among private, governmental and NGO members.
