Training “The importance of organic farming for nature protection”, Gostoljublje, Serbia

CEEweb with its project partners Young Researchers of Serbia and Eko-Centar, are  continuing their Visegrad+ project “Empower the powerless”, which began with a conference on 3-4th February in Szeged and was followed up by a training held in Zasavica Special Nature Reserve on 6-8th April.  The second training will be organized from 20 to 22 of May in Gostoljublje, western Serbia. Gostoljublje is situated in the village of Mionica, on the slopes of Divcibare and at the height of 550 meters. This ethno village occupies the area of about 11 ha, and is a household designed to serve the needs of countryside tourism and production of healthy food. Organic farming will be the central topic of the training event and participants will be introduced to the numerous aspect of organic farming in Serbia and informed in details about experiences of farmers who produce organic food. Experiences from Visegrad countries with organic farming will also form a main part of the event. Additionally, participants will be introduced to the importance and position of small scale family farms in Serbia, the IPARD program which brings new possibilities for financing, and connection of farming and tourism development in Gostoljublje. On the occasion of the International biodiversity Day – 22 of May, a short presentation by environmental NGOs and discussion on possibilities for cooperation between agriculture and nature protection sectors will be conducted. Filed visit will give opportunity to participants to see good practice examples in the region.
