The Birds and Habitats Directive set the bases of the largest conservation area, the Natura 2000, which is the milestone of preserving European biodiversity. The network covers almost one fifth of the European Union’s area on approximately 26 000 sites on land and water in order to protect around thousand important habitats and species.Want to know more about Natura 2000?
