Regulation of new pollutants

Absolutely, this is essential for the planet and for the health of our citizens, we need to support such environmental regulations which reduce the damage on the environment and our health. It is crucial to introduce the polluter pays principle, were polluters have extended responsibility if they do not comply with the rules.

Sustainable agriculture

The EU needs to reform its CAP in order to achieve the environmental goals and promote sustainable and healthy agriculture and farming. In principle we agree with the new delivery model for the CAP after 2020 which would linkthe new payments to the Member States and farmers with the environmental performance. This would provide incentives to achieve a more efficient and environmentally friendly farming. However, we believe that the indicators to evaluate such performance need to be very clearly defined. Therefore, we aim to work with different stakeholders in order to define and establish such indicatorswhich would allow assessing the real performance of the CAP as regards the impact on the environment, climate change, modernisation and innovation and the response to societal demands of the CAP.We’re also committed to support organic and local production and believe that the food quality needs to remain highand accessible to all EU citizens and its production must be environmentally friendly.

Fossil fuel subsidies

We hold a view that the EU’s budget should support those projects which are in line with the EU’s climate and energy policy objectives.

With the Paris climate change agreement in place, we believe that it is absolutely necessary to push for the alternative fuels and energy efficiency. In addition, clean technologies offer great opportunities and benefits for society and the EU’s economy. The decarbonisation of energy, transport and EU infrastructure not only will lead to a healthier environment but it will also help the EU to achieve independence from energy imports and fossil fuels. However, we need to make sure that such sustainable transport is easily accessible for the consumers.

Environmental civil society organizations in our region

LIFE is an extremely important programme since it’s the only EU fund exclusively dedicated to the environment and climate. In the previous legislation we have pushed for an increased budget for this programme from 3.5 billion to 7.2 billion euros. We believe that an adequate financing for the LIFE programme is very important in all the EU MS in order to ensure the transition to zero emission economy and the preservation of bio-diversity.

The party’s main sustainability message

Our objective it to build an environmentally friendly and conscious society and to tackle the climate change. We are in the process of rethinking the ways we produce, consume and lead our daily lives, so our habits would have as little or zero impact on our environment. Our cities, villages, businesses and reshaped habits all have a role to play. A positive change can happen if we work together and we need you on our side!
