Objectives and results of the project:

Goal: to build on the outstanding natural and cultural heritage of the Gutâi mountains by ecotourism development – a mechanism that secure the nature conservation and sustainable development of local communities.

Objectives of the project:
- Enhancing visiting experiences on the destination territory
- Building of local capacities;
- Developing and assuming a joint environmental policy at the destination level
- Increasing the market segment for the destination
Results: tourism infrastructure enhanced in 3 protected areas and 29 cultural objectives including volunteering of local communities as well; 20 craftsmen’s and artisans integrated in the tourist offer, gaining better marketing for their products; tourism and local administration personnel of the 4 communes trained in responsible tourism practices; involved afterwards in development and adoption of the environmental policy at the destination level; the ecotourism destination promoted by professional interpretation materials and 12 tour-operators and journalists who participated in testing, new categories of clientele attracted securing a better market for the local initiatives.
