Objectives and results of the project:

Nagybörzsöny and Čierny Balog are situated in the almost untouched forest hills nearby the Danube bend. The rivers Ipoly and Hron are untapped resources for active recreational tourism. With nature friendly investments and sustainable developments, the existing environmental, cultural and industry historical values, it can be transformed into a complex tourist attraction. This project focuses on the existing industry historical values as the aim of the project was to reconstruct the small train service running in the forest of Duna-Ipoly National Park and the valley of the river Hron, used for wood transportation in the past. The partners’ aim was to renew the infrastructural facilities and equipment in order to provide quality services for adults and children, to attract families to spend more time in the forest. During the implementation, the partners renewed the depot for the train, renewed a pump trolley, reconstructed more than 6 km of railway and bought new wagons to provide social and hygienic service
