Set up under the Bern Convention, the Emerald Network of protected areas aims to supplement the Natura 2000 Network, on a similar basis, in non-EU countries. The Pan-European Biological and Landscape Diversity Strategy is a European response to support the implementation of CBD, providing a platform for experience sharing and actions in the biodiversity field.
