The Convention established a so called "Clearing-House
Mechanism" to ensure that all needed information and
technologies are available to Parties for the implementation
of the Convention. It promotes cooperation in six key areas:
- tools for decision-making,
- training and capacity-building,
- research,
- funding,
- technology transfer,
- and the repatriation of information.
The Clearing-House is coordinated by the Executive Secretary
and overseen and guided by an Informal Advisory Committee
(IAC). Many Parties designated national CHM Focal Points to
assist its functioning.
