Impact assessments of proposed projects
in line with the CBD guidelines
During the environmental assessment of about 1000 proposed
projects within Rural Investment and Services Project BIOTICA
took into consideration the Decision VI/7 on Identification,
monitoring, indicators and assessment and its Annex
"Guidelines for incorporating biodiversity-related issues
into environmental impact assessment legislation".
The guidelines comprehensively describe the stages of environmental
impact assessment, such as screening of the projects, scoping
to identify which potential impacts are relevant to assess,
the impact assessment, and the identification of mitigation
measures to minimize adverse impacts. All these stages were
done by the BIOTICA specialists for the proposals within the
World Bank project.
On the basis of this environmental assessment, projects will
be selected which should be financed, transformed or supplemented
with some new actions to minimize adverse impact on environment
as a result of their activities.
