Guidelines for the Development of Case Studies on Tourism Impacts

The collection of case studies on impacts of tourism and potential locations for sustainable tourism development contains information on cases from Central and Eastern European Countries. If you would like to submit a case study, please contact Kristina Vilimaite at kvilimaite@ceeweb.org. The templates presented below will be useful in preparing a case study.

Template for the preparation of the case studies on positive or negative tourism impacts:

  Portion of the case study Description
a. 20% Where: General description of the area (social, economic, environmental), including aspects related to the tourism situation
b. 40% What are the impacts related to tourism (social, economic, environmental)?
c. 30% Why do these impacts take place (legislation, targeted actions of some individuals or institutions, etc)?
d. 10% Why this area was chosen as a case study (it is a typical case, the worst case, the best case, very unique area, etc.)?

If you would like to submit a case study on opportunites for sustainable tourism development, please follow this template:

  Portion of the case study Description
a. 20% Where: General description of the area (social, economic, environmental), including aspects related to the tourism situation
b. 40% What are the current and expected impacts related to tourism (social, economic, environmental)?
c. 30% Why the place is suitable for sustainable tourism development (tourism as a better alternative, etc)?
d. 10% Why this area was chosen as a case study (it is a typical case, the worst case, the best case, very unique area, etc.)?

The length of the case study should be 1,5-3 pages. If possible, please also provide photos and/or other illustrations (maps, drawings).
