Solar powered e-mobility for the elderly, run by a local energy coop and the municipality

Organisation: Umanotera Website: www.umanotera.org Added: December 12, 2022
Project start date: September 01, 2020
Project end date: December 31, 2022

Narrative

With the purchase of a solar power plant and an EV, the small municipality of Loški Potok, already a frontrunner in renewable energy, increased its energy self-sufficiency and now provides a service for the elederly population to get a free locally powered ride. Besides the municipality also the local wood cooperative, which was formed to run the local micro district heating system, is included in the project. EU funding in this case contributes to a better utilization of local resources. A key role in this plays the local cooperative, which is going beyond its initial mission to run the wood-fired local district heating system, and took over additional functions in the community. In the futuer, the municipality also has plans to build a wind park.
