Towards a climate neutral EU:
efficient allocation of EU funds

Renovation and revitalisation of buildings for energy saving

Organisation: Centre for Transport and Energy Website: Added: March 14, 2023
Project start date: January 01, 2022
Project end date: December 31, 2025

The aim is to provide energy efficient and adapted buildings. The objectives will be achieved by supporting energy renovation of residential buildings, constructing new buildings for housing with higher than mandatory energy standards, and supporting adaptation and mitigation measures on residential buildings. The RRF finances this subcomponent.

Financial data

CZK 8.4576 billion (EUR 359 million)

In relation to the Building Renovation Strategy, this subcomponent is less ambitious than it could be. The Strategy states that the cumulative investment costs of reducing energy consumption by 30 PJ/year in 2030 amount to about EUR 8.5 billion, and a reduction of 47 PJ/year in 2030, about EUR 15.4 billion. At its current amount, the funds proposed in the recovery plan for this component will not be enough to meet the targets set in the Czech Building Renovation Strategy. It is necessary to increase the target of this component to 70,000 buildings and the allocation to buildings’ energy efficiency to EUR 771 million (from EUR 359 million). We, therefore, propose to increase this allocation.
