Within the framework of the project, the development of new sensors with additional functionality will be carried out (acquisition of new data that will more accurately count the participants of the traffic and pedestrian flow), the obtained data of which could be used not only for the smart lighting system, but also for other smart city solutions (for example, bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure planning ), thereby creating additional opportunities and revenues for the lighting maintainer, which will create a correspondingly faster return on investment for LED luminaires and smart control systems.
- Improvement of public health: the new sensors created as a result of the research will be used to improve the energy efficiency of street lighting systems of smart urban technologies. It is planned that the developed new sensors will be able to accurately record traffic flow parameters (number of vehicles, speed and direction), sending information to the control system, which will be able to adjust light intensity and electricity consumption to the specific traffic situation at that moment. It is expected that this solution with sensors will be able to reduce electricity consumption by up to 15% (on road sections with highly variable traffic during the night) compared to the currently used "smart" LED lighting control systems, correspondingly providing an equivalent CO2 reduction, improving the quality of the surrounding environment and public health.
- Quality of public life: the sensors developed as a result of the research will be able to collect high-quality data, which will also be used in other types of smart city smart solutions, which are applicable to traffic and pedestrian flow analysis, traffic safety analysis, traffic, including bicycle and pedestrian, infrastructure construction planning.

This project can be not only passive (collecting data to be analyzed later), but also active - reacting to the flow of traffic and trying to control it by linking it to smart traffic lights, which would further reduce the CO2 footprint and increase people's well-being by allowing them to get there faster at the destination.
