In Romania in many tows the urban space is dominated by cars and it’s a lack of green space and recreational area. In the same situation is the municipality of Codlea, a middle sized town (a little bit more than 20.000 inhabitants) from Transylvania. The main goal of the project was to create conditions for improving the quality of life of the population from Codlea municipality, by rehabilitating the urban public space as well as by improving the recreational services of the municipality. The results of the project includes the building a recreation centre, rehabilitation of an urban space suitable for use by the Codlea community, ensuring accessibility for people with disabilities to the facilities available to all residents of the municipality by planning and developing the recreational area, development of an area for specific children's play activities, to support the development of children's sociable instinct and integration and the use of renewable energy sources for the purpose of efficient use of resources, reducing emissions of emissions and environmental pollution.

Financial data

21.663.162,23 RON (aprox. 4.629.000 EURO), 85% EU Funds from ROP

As far in Romania the rehabilitation of the urban space in many town is desperately needed, and the increase of the green spaces and recreational areas is absolutely necessary, we can recommend to use EU money for rehabilitation of the urban spaces and to increase the urban greens spaces in order to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions and to increase the comfort of the inhabitants. This project can be multiplied in other small and middle sized municipalities from Romania.
