Revitalisation of the Rakovský brook including the Štáhlavská flood park in Rokycany

Organisation: Centre for Transport and Energy Website: Added: November 02, 2023
Project start date: September 01, 2014
Project end date: October 01, 2015

Narrative

The landscaped revitalization of the approximately half-kilometre stretch of the Rakovský Brook was aimed primarily at preventing flood flows in a natural way, but also at building a new park for Rokycans where the surrounding residents could take refuge on hot summer days. Rokycany's emphasis was on the care of the stone crayfish, to which it adapted the shape of the stream, but also on promoting overall biodiversity.

Financial data

The costs amounted to CZK 17,245,202.58. The subsidy from the Operational Programme Environment covered nearly CZK 14 million.

Recommendations

This project was followed by the Rakovský Brook revitalisation phase, which was implemented between 2019 and 2020. The experience and evaluation will have to wait. However, it is already possible to say that this place, which was previously impenetrable and uninviting, with its black dumps, has changed its appearance and become a popular place to visit.
