Organisation: Združenie Slatinka Website: Added: September 20, 2022
Project start date: April 01, 2019
Project end date: October 01, 2019

Narrative

Project Objective: The goal of the project is to be achieved by revitalizing the urban elements and greening the open space of the park for success with the application of ecological principles of green space creation and protection. The space is to provide a suitable environment for biodiversity, to enable ecosystems to function by linking urban, suburban and rural areas (central urban zone, natural centre of the castle) and to integrate green and grey infrastructure elements for sustainable management of rainwater, contributing to the adaptability of the Trenčín area to climate change. The project will result in an increase in the proportion of green infrastructure in the form of 2 958 m² of restored open space. Project description: The physical output of the main project activity should equally contribute to increasing the resilience of the built environment to the negative impacts of climate change, in particular through the reduction of the urban heat island effect and negative stormwater management. The landscaping of the courtyard is complemented by elements of park furniture such as park benches, litter bins, bicycle racks with shelter. The landscaping is complemented by trees in the range of 28 sycamore trees, 3 ornamental cherry trees and 3 ash trees.

Recommendations

The revitalization of green spaces towards a more natural character will become increasingly important in times of climate change. Likewise, the topic of supporting biodiversity in cities is coming to the fore. It is therefore good that similar pilot projects are being created.
