Narative

The Ministry of the Environment will give CZK 600 million to purchase cars with alternative propulsion for municipalities, authorities, schools, public institutions or non-profit organisations. They can get up to CZK 300,000 for a personal electric car and up to half a million crowns for an electric truck or a hydrogen-powered passenger car. For electric cars, applicants can also receive CZK 30,000 for the purchase of a so-called smart charging station. The grant can be applied for through the State Environmental Fund of the Czech Republic from next week until mid-December 2023. With the subsidy, applicants can buy medium-sized trucks, motorbikes, minibuses with electric motors or work machines. The hydrogen propulsion support applies only to passenger cars for now, ministry officials said. Applicants must purchase the vehicles they receive the subsidy for by mid-2025. Recommendations

The subsidy is open to the public sector - municipalities, counties, state companies, public institutions etc. The more significant development of electromobility in the Czech Republic would undoubtedly benefit if private individuals could also apply for subsidies, as is the case, for example, in Germany. We, therefore, recommend opening this subsidy to individuals as well.
