Narative

The subsidy can be used for the actual purchase of the power plant, covering the costs of construction engineering and utilities. The applicants can also use the subsidy to cover ancillary budget costs and equipment, including control HW and SW. The programme is for small and medium-sized enterprises that are likely to be eligible to apply for renewable energy subsidies. This grant is financed through the Operational Program Technologies and Application for Competitiveness 2021-2027.

Recommendations

It takes, at best, seven years to obtain the necessary permits for a wind power plant in the Czech Republic, but usually ten years or more. The state should ensure that the permitting process for renewable energy sources is streamlined so that all permits for wind power do not take longer than two years to process. Only companies can apply for subsidies under this programme. Several initiatives are currently being developed by private companies to allow individuals to invest in power plants by purchasing a small equity stake, who then receive a share of the profits. Interest in wind energy is growing in the country, and the model of so-called citizen wind farms is becoming an interesting alternative. The state should speed up the legislation and support the development of community projects where households meet municipalities and entrepreneurs as energy producers.
