Narative

Main objective: Through the development and adoption of a low-carbon strategy, the City of Trnava will establish a framework of measures to combat climate change in the area. On the basis of the strategy document, the City of Trnava will be able to manage its own approach to the use of practical and financial instruments in the future, which will be directed to cities and municipalities with the aim of reducing greenhouse gases and reducing the impacts of climate change on the lives of its inhabitants. The Low Carbon Strategy will provide a coherent long-term outlook for the transition to a low carbon economy, help to align intentions with other strategic documents and action plans, propose indicative and binding targets for individual areas, assess the expected impacts of the developed strategy with a view to the future period in relation to the environment and local life. Emphasis will be placed on the proposal of low-carbon measures to promote energy efficiency, the use of RES with regard to environmental protection, in particular in relation to the production of greenhouse gas emissions and emissions of air pollutants. The document will take into account the current concept of the city's development in the field of thermal energy. The place of implementation of the project is the city of Trnava.

Recommendations

Low-carbon strategies should become part of the concept and direction of every town in near future; financial means and expertise are present to a sufficient extent. There is sufficient funding available from the EU for these adaptations. So does the know-how. But it is true that, for example, with the new climate law and the new climate EU and global commitments, some (especially smaller) municipalities will be administratively burdened beyond their abilities and capacities - hence the need to strengthen administrative capacities in the regions.
