Healthy soils can, among other functions, help mitigate climate change by storing carbon and reducing greenhouse emissions into the atmosphere. The importance of soil protection and the political expectations to act are high. Therefore, establishing common rules and a clear policy framework is imperative, as this will also help member states, regions, and stakeholders to use the available EU funds more effectively, and to achieve the European Green Deal priorities by 2050.
