Tender for the programming update, and long-term maintenance of the Open Source Database within MYSTICAL DANUBE project

Application deadline: June 25, 2026

Description

Tender

Within the project “GREEN AND MYSTICAL DANUBE STORYTELLING ROUTE – Transnational valorization of natural and intangible cultural heritage for socio-economic development of rural areas in the Danube region” (MYSTICAL DANUBE DRP0200231)

Activity 1.1. Mapping and collection of natural and associated intangible cultural heritage in the project's rural and less visited areas on which the Strategy will be based

Deliverable 1.1.2 Database of collected data – natural sites and intangible heritage

Background

The Project “MYSTICAL DANUBE” delivered an Open Source Database connected to Activity 1.1.  (Mapping and collection of natural and associated intangible cultural heritage in the project's rural and less visited areas on which the Strategy will be based) and Deliverable D.1.1.2 (Database of collected data – natural sites and intangible heritage).

The database contains data collected by the 10 Partners from 9 countries. With 30 June 2026, the project is officially ending, and the current partnership won’t be officially collaborating together. Therefore, the database should be automatized in a manner that new sites can be added by the general public and for those organisations/institutions applying to become a new Member of the Mystical Danube Storytelling Route Community (Deliverable D3.3.3 Step-by-step guide on becoming a part of the Green and Mystical Storytelling Route.)

The Open Source Database is managed by PP8 CEEweb for Biodiversity and is included under CEEweb’s domain: https://mystical-danube.ceeweb.org/

This description serves as a technical terms of reference for supporting the programming process of the Open Source Database.

Objectives

The Open Source Database should be made publicly available, as currently it is running in ‘test mode’ containing only the pilot sites of the Project Partner. The goal is to make it publicly available for adding new sites. By the end of the project, the Lead Partner developed a step-by-step guide on how to become a Member of the Mystical Danube Storytelling Route community. New communities applying to join the route, should have access to add their pilot sites to the Open Source Database.

Programming of the database is therefore needed with additional minor updates that arose while using the website during the course of the project.

These include:

  • Updating the Open Source Database making it publicly available (= open source) for anyone for data input, thus continuously expanding the database with natural sites and intangible heritage.

  • Update of CEEweb’s official address.

  • Update of Social Media channels – updated links should be added to the Social Media icons in the bottom bar.

  • Update of “Section 5 ENVIRONMENT – NATURE - CLIMATE“. “Map of natural heritage” in the bottom of the page is currently not visible.

  • Photos uploaded connected to the pilot sites should be made visible.

  • Clarification of follow-up of the Open Source Database in the long term, including:
    • Section 5. contains “Suggest natural heritage” and Section 6. contains “Suggest intangible cultural heritage”) – CEEweb should get immediately notified (by the website administrator) when there is a new any new input.
    • Potential changes in the login details of the current users (Project Partners) should be made automatized, as there won’t be active cooperation between the partnership after the official end of the project.
  • While updating the Open Source Database, the project’s visibility rules (colour, logo, design elements) must be kept.
