How to become viable?
A guidance material for small-scale farmers
Small-scale family farmers are a centrepiece of society in Central and Eastern Europe; however, various processes are threatening their very existence. This document is designed to provide guidance to small-scale farmers, farmer organisations, and NGOs supporting the development of small-scale family farming. The publications lay down basic principles of small-scale farming and the challenges and opportunities small-scale farmers are facing. It also showcases sustainable and simple solutions for the maintenance and growth of smallholdings, highlighting at the same time their socio-economic benefits. Small-scale family farming can be made viable in the region in a cost-efficient, sustainable manner.
