Csaba Mezei
Mr Csaba Mezei has worked for the past 20 years in the green non-profit sector with positions and tasks ranging from activism to executive assignments. Back in 2001, he was part of the founding team of Greenpeace Hungary, becoming Country Office Director in 2006, and worked in diverse environmental campaigns (e.g., toxic pollution, GMO, energy) up until 2009. From 2009 to 2018, he worked as a Project Manager and Expert at the Regional Environmental Center for Central and Eastern Europe (REC), being responsible for EU-funded research and development projects on topics such as environmental information, smart cities, and mobility, as well as working on business development and fundraising in the European research area.
He joined CEEweb for Biodiversity in 2018 and acts as General Secretary, overseeing the institutional operations and strategy implementation, partnerships, funding opportunities, and the challenges CEEweb has in its aim to work for the protection of biodiversity in the region.
Csaba is currently the president of HAND (Hungarian Association of NGOs for Development and Humanitarian Aid). During his free time, he builds wooden boats and leads Hungary’s first amateur boat-building community.
