During the guided tour, participants learned about the outstanding natural values of the Börzsöny Mountains and the Ipoly Valley and gained insight into habitat management efforts, including oak forest restoration. The MYSTICAL DANUBE project was also presented as part of the program, laying the foundation for sustainable tourism development in the region through the involvement of local communities.
The tour also included a rest stop and information board created as part of the project. Observant tourists could spot protected plant species — such as the Orchis purpurea — and traces of forest animals.
The program also included interactive elements: participants could test their knowledge in a quiz and win small souvenirs.
As part of the MYSTICAL DANUBE project, CEEweb developed an action plan for the Ipoly Valley and the Börzsöny region. The document aims to provide a common strategic framework for the sustainable development of the region, with a particular focus on preserving natural and cultural heritage and strengthening responsible, community-based tourism. The action plan provides guidance for local stakeholders on addressing challenges and realising joint development opportunities.
