Purchase of electric buses for the city of Riga

Narrative

The aim of the project is to increase the share of electric transport in the provision of daily public transport services in Riga and to increase the number of passengers who use environmentally friendly public transport. The project envisages the purchase of 35 new industrially produced electric buses, which will replace the currently used obsolete internal combustion engine EURO2 and EURO3 emission standard buses.

Total investment: 25 867 328.75 €. EU investment: 18 171 264.00 € (70,2%).

Recommendations

Replacing EURO2 and EURO3 emission standard buses is a necessity. There are concerns that buying electric buses without insuring charging infrastructure might put this whole project at risk.
