Project start date: December 13, 2021
Project end date: December 31, 2023

Narrative

The aim of the project is to promote the use of environmentally friendly public transport and increase the number of passengers in environmentally friendly public transport in Liepāja. The project is a sequential continuation of 2014-2020 of the first and second phases of the planning period for the reconstruction works of the tram track, in order to ensure high-quality, convenient, and safe passenger transportation in the city of Liepāja on a daily basis. The following actions are planned for the project:

  • rebuild the tram line and the territory adjacent to it (in total of 1,47 km);
  • restore contact networks and their support;
  • rebuild the 110 kV substation equipment;
  • additionally purchase 3 new low-floor tram cars.

Financial data

Total investment: 15 155 600.00 €. EU investment: 12 831 260.00 € (84,6%).

Recommendations

New trams and rebuilt lines are definitely a necessity and will be appreciated by the city's residents. Unfortunately, the trams are not true low-floor trams and have a step, which makes them difficult to access for a significant part of the public.
