Purchase of an additional electric bus for the city of Valmiera

Organisation: Green Liberty Website: www.zalabriviba.lv Added: June 30, 2023
Project start date: April 29, 2022
Project end date: September 28, 2023

Narrative

The aim of the project is to ensure the use of environmentally friendly public transport and increase the number of passengers in environmentally friendly public transport in the Valmiera city route network. When implementing the Project, a new, environmentally friendly, electric bus will be purchased for passenger transportation in the city of Valmiera. The use of an electric bus will ensure not only a reduction in harmful emissions (CO, HC, NOx, PM, CO2, etc.) and noise levels in the city, but will also ensure a reduction in the use of fossil fuels.

Financial data

Total investment: 550 500.00 €. EU investment: 467 921.00 € (85,0%).

Recommendations

Considering that this project is an addition to another VTU Valmiera project, the question is, what changed in the city's planning, that it was decided within 5 months that another electric bus is needed? Taking into account the amount of investment, it would be more useful to plan timely a precise replenishment of the bus fleet. This would reduce the bureaucratic burden and potentially reduce the costs associated with the project.
